Patola
Patola is one of the most prestigious and luxurious handwoven textiles of India, originating from Patan, Gujarat. This exquisite double-ikat weaving technique dates back to the 11th century, once reserved for royalty and aristocrats. Known as the “Queen of Silks,” Patola is admired for its geometric precision, rich colors, and motifs symbolizing prosperity, fertility, and spirituality. What makes Patola unique is the double ikat method – both the warp and weft threads are dyed with exacting precision before weaving, creating identical patterns on both sides of the fabric. This mastery requires months of labor, making each Patola saree a priceless heirloom.
